Job Title: Elementary and Middle School Special Education Teacher (LSB1 Required)
Start Date:
ASAP End of the SY.
Work Hours: 37.5 Hours per week.
Caseload: K5th grade students.
Location: Near Downers Grove IL

Are you enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of students with special needs Do you have experience or a desire to work in an elementary school setting If so we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Special Education Teacher with an LSB1 certification. We are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Collaborate with other members of the special education team including parents and related service providers to develop comprehensive IEPs tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  2. Differentiated Instruction: Design and deliver instruction that meets the diverse learning needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles. Utilize evidencebased practices and instructional strategies to promote academic growth and skill development.
  3. Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed. Use data to inform instructional decisions and track student achievement towards IEP goals and state standards.
  4. Behavior Management: Implement positive behavior support strategies and interventions to promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to address challenging behaviors and teach socialemotional skills.
  5. Collaboration and Communication: Communicate regularly with parents caregivers and other members of the school community to share student progress discuss concerns and collaborate on strategies for supporting student success. Participate in team meetings professional development activities and staff training.
  6. Inclusive Practices: Foster a culture of inclusivity and respect for diversity within the classroom and school community. Provide accommodation and modifications as needed to ensure access to general education curriculum for students with disabilities.
  7. Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in special education and enhance your knowledge and skills as a teacher. Seek out opportunities for collaboration mentorship and reflective practice.


Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field
  • Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) endorsement
  • Previous experience working with elementary students with disabilities preferred.
  • Solid motivational problem solving decision making and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives.
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • Highly skilled in working with students with diverse needs.
