Director of Product Development
Under the leadership of the Chief Operating Officer the Director of Product Development will be responsible for developing and leading the Product Development team. The Director will lead new formula development and reformulations generate new opportunities for growth and approve margins as a part of the company s budgets and forecasts. The Director should have and be able to share a breadth and depth of industry knowledge. The Director will work in a collaborative team environment to develop formulas and turnkey products in accordance with the requirements and requests of the customer.
- Director of Product Development will lead and oversee all product development formulation reformulation and sourcing. Director of Product Development will initiate track and execute all stages of product development as a part of the overall strategy.
- Director of Product Development will lead the Product Development team including hiring training managing and employee reviews.
- Director of Product Development will assign projects/accounts to Managers and Associates.
- Director of Product Development will facilitate crossdepartmental cooperation to ensure crucial aspects of product development are communicated with Sales Operations Regulatory and Finance.
- Director of Product Development will be knowledgeable about all of vetted suppliers and favorite formulas as well as onboarding new suppliers and creating new supplier relationships.
- Director of Product Development will attend industry events trade shows and supplier meetings to stay abreast of current trends and technologies.
- Director of Product Development will clearly articulate to suppliers the business model and value proposition as a trading partner and may participate in exclusivity agreement discussions.
- Director of Product Development will participate in customer sales meetings presenting formulas/trends/ services.
- Director of Product Development will clearly articulate to customers the business model and value proposition as a supplier.
- Director of Product Development will develop formulas and/or products and present to the customer for approval as well as coordinate approvals.
- 6 years Product Development experience
- Ice cream and frozen nondairy formulation experience required
- Marketing/Sales Skills
- Excellent analytical and organization skills
- Strong communication and problemsolving skills.
- Enthusiasm for customer service.
- Has a keen knowledge of the food processing industry and production processes.
- Able to manage tight deadlines and prioritize projects within those deadlines.
- Energetic/positive attitude.
- Project Management skills.
Required Education and Experience
- BS in Food Science Nutrition Dairy Science or related
- MS a plus
- 5 years Product Development Experience
- Regulatory experience plus
- Project Management Training or Certification is a plus.
6+ years Product Development experience Ice cream and frozen non-dairy formulation experience required Marketing/Sales Skills Excellent analytical and organization skills Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Enthusiasm for customer service. Has a keen knowledge of the food processing industry and production processes. Able to manage tight deadlines and prioritize projects within those deadlines. Energetic/positive attitude. Project Management skills.
