FOOTHILL UNITY CENTER SEEKS A DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

For over 40 Years Foothill Unity Center has helped neighbors in need with programs that focus on: Food Health Crisis Case Management Job Development Volunteerism and Housing and Homeless services.

Foothill Unity Center a multiservice agency serves as the region’s primary provider of integrated services that help individuals and families move out of poverty to reach economic stability. Our program model helps to advance equity in the San Gabriel Valley community. We are providing access and opportunities removing barriers for the lowincome and working poor providing a safety net to the disadvantaged to prevent homelessness and supporting the underserved homeless population by addressing their full spectrum of needs for the whole family. Position: Director of Finance FLSA Status: Exempt

Annual Salary Range: $90000 – $105000 Location: 790 West Chestnut Avenue

Monrovia CA 91016

Schedule: Full Time

JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to and in a partnership with the Chief Executive Officer the Director of Finance will manage all financial functions including accounting billing payroll reconciling budget development and tracking financial operations finance personnel management insurance coverage management of legal requirements and projections for individual project budgets grant budgets and capital improvement budgets (as applicable).

Our ideal candidate will have an indepth knowledge of nonprofit service agencies supporting underserved populations or similar nonprofit organizations and will contribute:

  • Strategic vision organizational planning development and oversight of the organization’s financial outlook
  • Upperlevel accounting and oversight of state and/or federal grant administration budget development and supervision of support staff; in addition will prepare interpret and analyze a wide variety of financial reports and will assist in the development and implementation of agency administrative procedures
  • Assistance in resource development by preparing budgets for grant proposals which fit into the organization strategy
  • Consistent analysis of financial data; accurate reliable timely and complete financial reports and statements that are presented monthly quarterly and annually; clear communications of monitored progress and changes in order to keep senior leadership and board governance abreast of the organization’s financial status
  • Oversight of all accounts ledgers financial/accounting software and reporting s ystems ensuring policies internal controls maintenance of financial records and recordkeeping systems and procedures follow appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements as well as or including fiscal management and grant programs

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business accounting or related field
  • Minimum of two years of nonprofit accounting experience
  • Knowledge of principles theories methods and terminology related to financial nonprofit accounting and reporting
  • Outstanding communication with excellent speaking written listening and presentation skills
  • Established experience with finance department structure and managing finance department staff
  • Proven problem solving skills that are effective through department challenges with staff BOD and colleagues

We are committed to being part of the collective effort to end social inequities in our nation eliminate poverty and to create a just society for all. Our record of service helped us earn the Federal designation as a Community Action Agency for the Foothill Area.

The Center has received major support and recognition from community leaders and organizations including several distinguished awards for its work in the community. The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank (LARF) considers the Center to be a top food pantry in the County recognizing it with both the LARF Community Spirit Award and the coveted Tony Collier Award for “leadership in the war against hunger.” The Center has also received the Spirit of Humanitarianism Award from the Volunteer Center of San Gabriel Valley the Community Achievement – Torch Award from the 48th District Schools Involvement Program and the Hunger Fighter Award from the California Hunger Action Coalition for its dedication and commitment to ending hunger in California.
