Based in Toledo, Ohio, certified agency provider who provides direct care to adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They dedicate themselves to providing support for the people they serve to perform in activities to teach and develop life skills. A very hands-on but rewarding position.
As a Direct Care Specialist, you will be assisting our clients who are developmentally or intellectually disabled develop life skills. You will perform and train them on housekeeping tasks, meals, and taking care of their personal hygiene needs. You may be subject to assisting them in appointments, running errands or medication intake as well. We are looking for someone who can be entrusted with the wellbeing of the people we support, have a caring approach, and always remain empathetic.
You will be assisting our clients with many daily living skills. Coordinate client medical appointments, medication administration, and ensure that all records are accurate. Provide all receipts from activities and process necessary paperwork. Provide the number of hours per week in ratio support to persons served. Complete daily required documentation. Schedule and coordinate activities of the clients choice. Perform other duties to assist the company as necessary. Schedules can be flexible between client and staff as long as client agrees and supervisor is aware.

- Job may take place at clients home or facility site
- $14 hourly rate,overtime after 40 hours
- Potential increased pay after 60 days
- Various shifts available
- Flexible scheduling amongst clients and staff
- Day,evening,night & overnight shifts available-weekends as needed
Requirements
- MUST HAVE STRONG INTERPERSONAL,COMMUNICATION, & ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS-SHOWS EMPATHY, & MOTIVATED
- At least 18 years of age
- Must be US Citizen or US Permanent Resident
- Must complete a thorough background check BCII (or FBI check if you have lived outside of the state of Ohio for longer than 5 years) and sign an attestation form stating that you have not committed a crime that will exclude you from being employed/staying employed with the company.
- Background check must be obtained at your expense.
- If applicable, Medication Administration Certification 1 certificate required(NO WORRIES-WE WILL TRAIN YOU)
- High School Diploma or G.E.D, not required but preferred
- Must have reliable transportation Proof of car insurance (must maintain state minimum coverage and provided upon request throughout employment Must have a drivers license and be able to transport individuals.
- Employees must not incur more than six (6) points on a license
- Maintain a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, dual-relationships and professional stature
- Provide direct services to clients, including intakes, preparing and serving meals, cleaning and sanitizing, doing laundry, completing hygiene requests, providing access to medication, wake-up calls
