DBA - Job Description

Objectives of this role

  • Senior Azure & On Prem MS SQL Database Administrator will be responsible for the management of production and non- production databases; database maintenance activities; troubleshooting database-related issues; monitoring of database capacity and performance; installation, administration, and configuration of database server/instances/databases; installation and configuration of SSRS; Support release/code deployment activities (SSIS Packages, SSRS reports, SQL objects etc)

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Create new Microsoft SQL Server instances and configure them, including AlwaysOn availability groups and failover clustering
  • In charge of database backup and recovery methods, database access security and integrity, physical data storage design, and data storage administration
  • Assists in the selection of a database management system and the maintenance of database performance
  • Configure and maintain SQL Security controls
  • Make recommendations for system architecture per Microsoft SQL Server best practises
  • Manage database backup and recovery, as well as disaster recovery planning, in coordination with the IT manager and System Engineer
  • Create, change, and improve SQL Server Agent tasks and maintenance plans
  • Proactively monitor SQL Server maintenance tasks, troubleshoot failed processes, and address issues as soon as possible
  • Troubleshoot application sluggishness and poor performance
  • In charge of T-SQL query tuning
  • In charge of database migrations and server updates
  • Create documentation and training for routine database administration activities, as well as train server operations employees on them
  • In charge of big data ETL into SQL Server, as well as authoring and modifying SQL Server Reporting Services reports
  • Integrate SQL Server with corporate applications
  • T-SQL (Transact-SQL) Programming Perform any extra responsibilities that are allocated to you
  • Conduct Performance tuning and optimization (Stored procedures, Views, Functions, Queries, database) - In-depth SQL database advanced performance tuning experience – Stored Procedures, Views, Functions; skilled in analyzing and assessing query execution plans and DMVs; expertise in assessing and implementing indexes and partitioning; Tuning ETL Jobs - SSIS & Azure Data Factory
  • Strong database migration experience.
  • Expertise and experience monitoring Azure workspaces, VM's, VM drives, Memory etc.
  • Expertise and experience creating MS Visio diagrams as they relate to MS SQL and database
    design
  • Responsible for maintaining existing databases with high-availability solutions, replication,
    backup, restore, encryption, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Configure & Monitor Performance/Storage/Memory alerts on all Production Azure Servers to
    ensure high availability of data
  • Expertise Microsoft SQL Server on VM, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL
