DB2 - DBA

Job Title: DB2 DBA

Location: 2 Months Remote initially then Hybrid(Atlanta GA)

Terms: Contract

Responsibilities:

Install upgrade and patch DB2 LUW databases.

Administer HADR and SAN HUR replicated DR environments for DB2 LUW.

Maintain and develop UNIX shell scripts to manage and monitor the environment.

Perform and ensure database backups restores and recoveries using Commvault storage manager backups for DB2 LUW.

Perform maintenance operations including run stats and reorgs using automated scripts for DB2 LUW databases.

Manage database environments using DB2 LUW utilities including snapshots db2pd import/export LOAD etc.

Manage database space including monitoring and alerting.

Perform capacity planning at the instance operating system and storage levels.

Work with application teams on SQL performance tuning using SQL traces and Explains.

Troubleshoot service problems determine the root cause and provide resolutions. Work with HCL/IBM Tech Support if needed.

Manage security and permissions of database users groups and roles.

Implement migrations of Database objects.

Participate in oncall rotation to provide 24/7 operational support.

Produce documentation as needed on database standards and policies.

Ensure compliance with database policies procedures and security standards.

Provide guidance on good database design and implementation practices to Developers.

Participate in DR testing and execution.

Participate in a team environment to share workload and responsibilities as circumstance warrants.

Maintain working knowledge of relevant operating systems network and storage principles relating to database platforms.

Skills:

Required:

4 years of production support of DB2 LUW Databases

Preferred:

2 years of database development exp.

2 years of DB2 pure scale environments
