Job Summary:

The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the performance integrity and security of the companys databases. This role involves a blend of technical expertise and an understanding of the business needs ensuring that the database environment is aligned with the organizations goals and objectives. The DBA will work closely with IT teams developers and departmental heads to develop manage and optimize databases for optimal performance high availability and secure access.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Maintenance and Performance Tuning: Ensure all database servers are running optimally. Implement and maintain database code in the form of stored procedures scripts queries views triggers etc.
  • Security Management: Administer and maintain database security by managing user access permissions and privileges.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and oversee regular backup procedures verify data integrity and ensure the swift recovery of data in the event of data loss.
  • Data Modeling and Database Design: Modify the database structure as necessary from changes in software solutions to updates in requirements.
  • Capacity Planning: Monitor and optimize the performance of the databases. Assess and plan for future database expansion requirements.
  • Troubleshooting: Act as a primary contact for databaserelated issues. Troubleshoot and resolve database problems in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Updates and Upgrades: Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations. Install and upgrade the database server and application tools.
  • Documentation: Maintain the documentation of the database environment and management procedures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with IT project managers database programmers and multimedia programmers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Familiarity with database software/web applications (e.g. MySQL MongoDB SQL Server Oracle).
  • Knowledge of database backup procedures recovery systems and SQL.
  • Experience with performance tuning and optimization (PTO) using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong understanding of database structure theories principles and practices.
  • Ability to communicate database concepts to technical effectively and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Professional certification as a Database Administrator is a plus.
