Duties and Responsibilities:


As a Data Architect at one of our public sector organizations you will play a pivotal role in shaping the data architecture and driving the modernization of our technology infrastructure. We are seeking a highly skilled individual with expertise in data management modeling and governance to design and implement robust scalable and secure data solutions that support our organizations transformational initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead datacentric projects and contribute to the delivery of innovative services and insights for the citizens of Minnesota.


The Data Architect will work closely with our customer technology teams to understand their vision challenges and needs to enable their datarich environment to enable complex data models data algorithms and solutions. The Data Architect will lead a team to deliver capabilities through agile product delivery lifecycle by leveraging advanced technologies by improving integration and providing enhancements of optimizing and automating manual processes through automation technologies.


Develop and implement an overarching data strategy aligned with organizational goals.

Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data architecture solutions.

Design and implement logical and physical data models to support application development and business intelligence needs.

Ensure data models are optimized for performance scalability and maintainability.

Establish and enforce data governance policies standards and procedures.

Ensure data quality integrity and security are maintained throughout the data lifecycle.

Oversee the selection and implementation of database management systems (DBMS) that align with business and technical requirements.

Manage and optimize database performance ensuring efficient data retrieval and storage.

Design and implement data integration processes to facilitate the seamless flow of data between systems.

Collaborate with development teams to integrate data solutions into application architectures.

Implement security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.

Work with security and compliance teams to conduct audits and address potential vulnerabilities.

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data architecture and database designs.

Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Provide knowledge transfer to client and team members.

Working with business units to understand business objectives and how to leverage our data platform and tools to achieve those objectives.

Designing solutions to build and maintain frontline industrial scale workflows/pipelines to potentially process terabytes of data.

Providing informational briefings to explain methodologies and analytical findings to peers and customer stakeholders.

Investigating and implementing new scientific analysis and methodologies to support data science artificial intelligence machine learning and analytics efforts.

Building state of the art data platforms for complex integrated technical solutions including using cutting edge technologies available today in the cloud.

Authoring reviewing and approving data requirements and designs of data platform and data engineering domain including ETL data movement pipelines business intelligence and analytics.

Identifying and developing auditable governance controls for systems within the data warehousing and data engineering domains and monitor compliance by the data engineering team.

Defining how systems should be maintained including tools to be used for monitoring thresholds and runbooks and actively working on refining oncall practices.

Leading multifunctional teams made up of analysts developers data scientists and other roles that are needed to support business needs.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:


Proven experience as a Data Architect Database Administrator or in a similar role.

Indepth knowledge of data modeling tools and techniques.

Expertise in relational and nonrelational databases (e.g. SQL NoSQL).

Familiarity with big data technologies and data warehousing.

Shall have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in enterprise data architecture and management the Information Technology field

Strong understanding of data architecture principles methodologies and best practices with practical experience in data modeling schema design and data warehouse architecture.

Proficiency in database technologies such as SQL NoSQL relational databases (e.g. Oracle SQL Server MySQL) and distributed data storage systems (e.g. Hadoop Spark).

Experience with data integration tools and platforms (e.g. Informatica Talend Apache Kafka) ETL processes and data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA COBIT).

Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g. AWS Azure GCP) and cloudbased data services (e.g. AWS Redshift Azure Synapse Analytics) is highly desirable.

Familiarity with data security privacy and compliance standards and regulations such as GDPR HIPAA and PCI DSS.

Excellent analytical problemsolving and communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear actionable recommendations for nontechnical stakeholders.

Shall have at least seven (5) years of experience in Conceptual/Logical/Physical data modeling

Experience in retrieving manipulating fusing and exploiting multiple structured and unstructured data sets from various sources.

Experience with analyzing large volumes of data using distributed processing architectures with opensource tools (e. g. Spark Python or R)

Must be able to define & maintain Bl/Data Warehouse methodologies standards and industry best practices

Shall have experience leading and architecting enterprisewide initiatives specifically system integration data warehouse build data mart build data lakes etc. for a large enterprise.

Experience with large data sets transforming and querying terabytes of data

Minimum Education:


Bachelors degree in data science engineering statistics


Required Certifications:


Technical software development platform or solution certifications are a plus.


Other:


Local to Minnesota candidates preferred; Remote candidates will be considered.

US Citizens Preferred but Green Card candidates considered.
