As a Controls Engineer your primary responsibility is to design develop and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery. You will work closely with crossfunctional teams to ensure the efficient and safe operation of equipment and processes. Your role involves designing control strategies programming software troubleshooting issues and providing technical support for control systems.
Responsibilities
- Control System Design: Design and develop control systems for industrial processes and machinery. Analyze system requirements define control objectives and select appropriate control components and hardware.
- Control System Programming: Develop and program control software for PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces) SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems and other control devices. Write and modify control logic ladder logic and scripting code.
- System Integration: Integrate control systems with various hardware components such as sensors actuators motor drives and communication networks. Ensure seamless communication and data exchange between control systems and other devices.
- Control System Testing and Commissioning: Conduct testing and commissioning activities to verify the functionality and performance of control systems. Perform system simulations run functional tests and troubleshoot issues to ensure proper operation.
- Process Optimization: Optimize control systems to improve process efficiency productivity and quality. Analyze system data monitor performance metrics and identify areas for improvement. Implement control system enhancements and finetune parameters to optimize process performance.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve control system issues including equipment malfunctions communication errors and software bugs. Diagnose problems perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- System Maintenance and Upgrades: Perform regular maintenance tasks including system backups software updates and calibration of control devices. Stay updated with the latest technology advancements and industry standards. Recommend and implement system upgrades as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain documentation including control system specifications wiring diagrams technical manuals and operating procedures. Prepare reports and provide status updates on control system projects and activities.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure control systems comply with relevant safety regulations industry standards and best practices. Identify and mitigate safety risks associated with control systems. Collaborate with safety and compliance teams to implement appropriate safety measures.
- Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including process engineers electrical engineers and maintenance technicians to ensure seamless integration and operation of control systems. Provide technical support training and troubleshooting assistance to endusers and maintenance teams.
