Tasks

About the role:

A YLD Software Engineering Consultant is a highlyskilled developer who exemplifies the highest standard in software engineering and enjoys sharing their knowledge and experience with others.

As a Python Engineer youll have the opportunity to build and deliver software within interesting projects both in terms of the product and the methodology. We work in an Agile environment (Scrum) with a testfirst mindset (actually writing code without tests should be unthinkable). We are also big advocates of pair programming and nothing is released until we have a code review.

Requirements

Technical competencies:

Proven experience writing highly maintainable performant Python code

• Understanding of git and experience working with a rapid gitbased deployment cycle
• Experience working with SQL databases
• Used to using AWS SQS AWS Kinesis AWS Lambda Terraform and Docker
• Endtoend monitoring & alerting experience (CloudWatch Datadog etc)
• Used to building modern web services with REST or GraphQL APIs
• Experience scaling NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB / DynamoDB)
• Deep understanding of HTTP(S)/23 including cachecontrol HTTP response codes etc. with context for modern REST & GraphQL APIs

NonTechnical competencies:

• Experience in a professional engineering role iteratively shipping software with a team of close collaborators
• Experience maintaining a highdegree of ownership and transparency in deliverables
• Problemsolving skills that balance innovation with pragmatic technology choices to solve business needs
• Comfortable working in a dynamic production environment and taking care of client expectations effectively
• Distinct customer focus and quality mindset
• An exemplar of YLDs brand and safeguarder of our reputation
• Exceptional communication skills able to communicate complex ideas in a simple fashion
