EXCELLANT OPPORTUNITY FOR AN EXPERIENCED IP LITIGATION PARALEGAL!! This position is a hybrid contract 1099 position that is open to Paralegals in California only. Please do not apply if you are not living in the United States and outside of California. The ideal candidate must have experience in the areas of 1) Federal IP Litigation; 2) Patent Prosecution; and 3) All aspects of Trial Preparation for Federal Court.

Candidates must have experience with Federal IP Law and Procedure. California resident within a drivable distance to Mountain View California required as this is a hybrid position.

READ THIS CAREFULLY: This position will be partly remote (working from your home office) with some meeting with the attorney in person at the Mountain View CA office. Candidates must also have the ability and availability to accompany the attorney to the trial in Wako Texas which is a great opportunity for a trial paralegal to attend an inperson patent infringement trial.

Candidates should be proficient in the drafting collection and organization of documents forms and information from various cases at the firm meeting with and assisting clients via phone Zoom or Google Meet obtaining necessary records & reports drafting pleadings and discovery calendaring deadlines on a firm calendar etc. Candidates should feel comfortable relaying messages between various groups and keeping all documents important to the cases organized in an online database. Candidate MUST be familiar with all areas of Patent Litigation in Federal Court.

The perfect candidates are proactive detailedoriented team players with the ability to work well independently and maintain a high level of attention to all details and timeliness of deadlines.

Hours and Compensation

Hours: Up to 40 hours per week until the end of trial in August 2024
Compensation: Compensation is $30 per hour. Payroll is bimonthly and this is a 1099 contract position with travel expenses reimbursed with proper show of receipts.

Responsibilities

Draft IP Litigation documents obtain documents and records from clients and state and local agencies be familiar with all aspects of IP Federal Patent Law
Review and edit legal documents pertaining to Federal Parent Law
EFiling drafting propounding and answering discovery trial binders witness & exhibit lists all areas of trial prep
Calendaring deadlines scheduling of hearings depositions etc.
Meeting with clients via phone or zoom when necessary
Create and maintain electronic case files
Facilitate the meeting of attorney deadlines by keeping organized schedules and providing timely reminders
Conduct legal research
Communication with clients attorneys opposing counsels judicial offices etc.

Software

The firm uses Clio
Candidate must have their own Microsoft office and Adobe programs

Qualifications

Experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in the above listed areas for 5 years
Status must be a fulltime freelancer; must not have prior commitments as a W2 employee
Daytime availability Monday Friday in or near Mountain View California
Bachelors degree or Paralegal certificate
8 GB or more RAM with strong preference for 16 GB; SSD preferred especially if RAM is on the lower end preferred
Windows 10 Pro or 11 Pro preferred
