We are looking for a Development Worker, Teacher, Events coordinator or anyone familiar with activities planning to work with Ealing Mencap as Independence Development Worker.
You will be expected to run a range of different programmes and sessions focused on increasing independent living skills in the home for people with disabilities as our Development Worker.
Your responsibilities will include creating a roadmap of events and activities focused on our curriculum which covers; health and wellbeing, access to universal services, safe travel, IT literacy/digital inclusion, job readiness, financial poverty, citizenship, and human rights.
You will plan, design and deliver each activity and session for our support programme. You ll also work closely with our customers to create goals and express their views about the activities, placing them at the centre of delivery.
You ll be working with families, and partner organisations to provide updates on progress, resolve barriers to achievement, create positive relationships and new opportunities for the people we support as our Development Worker.
You ll be involved in creating regular reports for families and parents reporting on/and illustrating performance and achievements.
We support people with a range of additional needs, the Development Worker will be providing some personal care and support throughout the activities you run.
You will be involved with designing and delivering activities and supporting others. This could be from a previous position as a Development Worker, teaching, social care or any other industry where there s an emphasis on session planning.
You should have understanding of the challenges disabled people face, through commercial or lived experience.
We are looking for someone who is confident in using Microsoft office or Gsuite to a basic level.
You ll need to visit a range of venues for trips and activities as well as community, education and health centres around the borough of Ealing, so you will need to be happy to travel around locally.
Lastly, our service runs from 8 am - 8 pm Monday to Sunday, with sessions split into morning and afternoon sessions. You ll work regular full-time hours, but will be flexible to work across any given shift.
Successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure from the DBS and provide references. We look at each application on a case-by-case basis with a focus on safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
Through the success of the programmes you run, you ll be building awareness of Ealing Mencap as a brand and ensuring that those in need can find the help they need.
