Cloud Warehouse Architect

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Enterprise GIS & Data Analytics office under the direction of the Chief Data & Analytics Officer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:
Twelve years of experience of working in information technology with at least eight years of experience working in cloud architecture and data warehousing. Experience working with AWS is strongly preferred. Experience working with PowerBI ArcGIS Versaterm and IA Pro is preferred.

Education:
Bachelors degree or applicable work experience in Computer Science Information Systems Information Management or a related field. Relevant AWS certification(s) are strongly preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Actively support and uphold the Citys stated mission and values. This position will lead the architecture and development of an AWS cloudbased data warehouse that will integrate with all city systems starting with Tempe Police Department systems (Versaterm and IA Pro).

EXAMPLE JOB FUNCTIONS (not comprehensive)
Work closely with the Enterprise GIS Data & Analytics team to lead the implementation of a data warehousing solution for Tempe data aligning with the citys strategic data transparency initiative. Emphasize priorities in data access transparency literacy and reporting.
Take a lead role in designing and implementing a scalable architecture for data storage integration and modeling ensuring the efficient and effective handling of diverse datasets.
Leverage expertise in AWS tools including but not limited to AWS Direct Connect Redshift S3 Data Lake Formation Glue Quicksight Kinesis. Lambda and Data Catalog in order to architect and develop innovative solutions aligned with best practices and industry standards.
Work collaboratively with the Enterprise GIS and Data Analytics team to develop solutions for data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI and ArcGIS enhancing the accessibility and usability of data insights.
Collaborates with a broad base of IT teams including systems networking security and other technical teams in support of the development of the data transparency initiative.
Drive the optimization of data transformation cleansing and organization processes. Conduct thorough reviews of existing ETL tools documenting and implementing best practices within the data architecture.
Identify key data sets working with stakeholders to help answer the more technical questions related to the existing architecture.
Take a proactive approach to implement robust data security measures access controls data masking and encryption to safeguard sensitive information ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Collaborate with data governance teams to establish and enforce data governance policies ensuring data quality compliance and alignment with organizational standards.
Provide training sessions and knowledge transfer to Enterprise GIS & Data Analytics team members.
Stay compliant with relevant privacy regulations and laws governing the handling of law enforcement data. Collaborate with internal cybersecurity experts to regularly assess and update security measures.
