Job Title: Civil Design Engineer

Location: Coralville or Cedar Rapids Iowa

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking to hire a full time Civil Engineer EI to join our team of engineers and technical specialists at our Coralville or Cedar Rapids office. A successful candidate will contribute to the continued growth and success of the company.

• Bachelor s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college/university.
  
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer Intern (EI). With interest in obtaining Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  
• Required Software Skills: Microsoft Office Suite basic knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D and Bluebeam Revu.
  
• An understanding of the practical application of civil engineering including applying principles techniques and procedures to a project design.
  
• Knowledge of civil design techniques tools and principles involved in the production of technical plans reports drawings and models.
  
  

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work independently or under the direct supervision of a licensed PE.
  
• Receive training and mentorship from experienced civil design engineers.
  
  

TASKS & ABILITIES

• Apply knowledge of materials hydraulic analysis utility design and roadway geometry to project design tasks.
  
• Ability to work as a team member and independently.
  
• Ability to research knowledge and techniques that are unfamiliar (Reference manuals technical resources etc.)
  
• Perform calculations coordinate between different design elements document designs and specifications.
  
• Calculate stormwater runoff slopes item quantities etc.
  
• Ability to communicate with coworkers clients and the public in a clear concise manner both orally and in written documents.
  
• Travel to client work sites and offices for design reviews site visits field verifications and construction observation.
  
• Ability to pass screening and background checks for admittance to client sites.
