Certified Coding Specialist- Physician

Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

• Assign accurate ICD10CM and CPT codes to physician services and procedures
• Review medical records to ensure documentation supports the codes assigned
• Adhere to coding and compliance guidelines including HIPAA regulations
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify documentation
• Abstract clinical data for medical research and statistical reports
• Resolve codingrelated denials and rejections through appeals and communication with payers
• Stay updated with changes in coding regulations and healthcare laws
• Provide coding education and support to physicians clinicians and administrative staff
• Participate in coding audits and quality improvement initiatives
• Conduct coding reviews to identify potential areas for improvement
• Assist in the implementation and optimization of electronic health record systems
• Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information
• Collaborate with billing and compliance teams to support revenue cycle management
• Handle codingrelated inquiries and provide accurate and timely responses

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Health Information Management or related field
• Active Certified Coding SpecialistPhysician (CCSP) certification
• Thorough understanding of ICD10CM and CPT coding guidelines
• Proficiency in medical terminology and anatomy
• Knowledge of healthcare laws regulations and compliance requirements
• Experience in physicianbased coding in a healthcare setting
