Utilizing novel materials and cell designs the Company has recently developed a revolutionary low cost highcapacity silicon anode that enables high capacity silicon batteries to enter mainstream markets. Delivering a very disruptive performance jump in energy density at lower cost with increased safety for Emobility consumer electronics and aviation markets the Company is well positioned to rapidly commercialize this technology with seamless integration into the existing Liion manufacturing ecosystem.

The Company is supported by toptier venture capital firms and strategic investors that alongside its previous product partnerships with leading automotive mobile device battery and battery companies provides the foundation for rapid growth.

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Product Development the Battery Cell Development Engineer plays a critical role in refining the Companys Silicon dominant anode Liion cells. You will work closely with both the Research and Product Development Teams to implement and optimize novel cell materials processes and designs. The role aims to balance work across cell design prototyping and validation testing of the Companies core technology and will focus on the following areas:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct material formulation and design evaluations for new cell electrodes or new generations of products including active materials additives separator and electrolytes.
  • Execute electrode & cell design optimization to achieve customer/market requirements on performance safety reliability and cost.
  • Run welldesigned experiments based on DOE and Taguchi methodologies.
  • Devise and lead labscale experiments to test critical design and processing methods for Anode

    cathode and cell level characteristics.
  • Support structured root cause failure analysis to achieve design and product performance goals.
  • Maintain cell level performance and energy density models.
  • Support the design and release of our clients standard pouch cell format.
  • Analyze and report battery cell performance and cycle life trends in weekly technical forum including

    broader Research and Product Development teams.

  • Support the creation and maintenance of Sionics DVP&R (Design Validation Plan & Report) to guide
    the validation testing and summary of results through progressive stages of technology
    development.

  • Develop procedures for HALT (highly accelerated life testing) of our clients battery cells.
  • Interface with vendors and contractors to design integrate and validate test & development

    equipment.

Qualifications:

The role will involve being a part of a small integral and driven team that seeks to commercialize silicon anode lithiumion battery technology.

  • B.S. or Masters of Science degree in Chemical Materials Mechanical Electrical or related technical field.
    • 35 years working experience in a battery energy storage or electrochemical product development company.
      Handson selfstarter with highly detailoriented approach to engineering work.
    • Prior experience in highcapacity lithiumion battery development.
    • Experience with silicon battery anodes is a plus.
    • Experience in product development validation test method creation and statistical analysis.
    • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Six Sigma or related Quality management system is a plus.
    • Strong work ethic and positive working attitude.
    • Exceptional organizational verbal and communication skills.
    • Motivated and driven to solve problems and continually improve processes.
