Backend Engineer

Virtusan is a digital health startup on a mission to simplify healthy habitbuilding. Our app empowers individuals to take control of their wellbeing by providing actionable tools and seamless access to personalized health data and insights.

Tasks

As a Backend Engineer youll work in our core product team to help build a responsive fast and easytouse digital health app.

Our app hosts a collection of digital toolscalled practicesthat users can mix and match to build a healthier routine. They range from meditation practices to help users sleep better a breathing exercise to destress and various trackers to help improve performance and physical health. Youll get to improve our existing practices and create new features based on the scientific teachings of our advisory board.

Main responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable and robust backend services using Spring MVC and Kotlin.
• Develop and maintain an efficient database using PostgreSQL.
• Ensure seamless data integration and communication between the frontend and backend components.
• Collaborate with a crossfunctional product engineering and design team to prioritize features and ensure seamless user experiences.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Stay uptodate with emerging technologies and industry trends in the digital health space.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer.

• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and the Spring MVC / Spring Boot framework (or similar technologies).

• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational database systems.

• Familiarity with our tech stack is a plus including:

• Firebase

• RevenueCat

• Sentry

• Mailgun

• Cloudinary

• Excellent problemsolving analytical and communication skills.

• Bonus: Experience working on consumerfacing products and interest in the digital health space.
