**Note this position requires frequent out of state travel. Per diem and travel pay will be provided.**
EPG is currently seeking an Autonomous Vehicle Specialist for one of our partners that is creating proprietary self-driving software in order to automate trucks within shipping hubs.
As an Autonomous Vehicle Specialist, you will use your commercial driving expertise to ensure proper function and dispatching of autonomous vehicle systems for tractor-trailer combinations. The hired candidate will:
- Inspect vehicles for maintenance issues and assist with preparation, installation, and maintenance of autonomous hardware
- Under the guidance of engineers and OEM instructions, perform basic repairs
- Use commercial driving expertise to monitor, test and recommend improvements for autonomous vehicle systems
- Operate vehicles including in-cab and via web app for up to 10 hours per day
- Asses risk situations and resume manual control of the vehicle whenever necessary
- Use trucking expertise to provide oral and written feedback on autonomous vehicle systems and their performance to engineers, management, and other personnel
- Travel to customer sites for field work
- Use software applications such as warehouse management systems (WMS) and yard management systems (YMS)
- Report system performance and agreed-upon customer key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Dispatch vehicles via a web based application
Requirements
- Class A CDL w/ 4+ years of experience
- Clean MVR, both in commercial and personal vehicles
- Skills withGoogle suite, docs, sheets..etc or similar software, such as MS office
- Written and verbal communication
- Curiosity about autonomous vehicles and helping to improve self-driving technology
- Ability to convey and report operating issues to the technical team
- Emphasis on safety
- Flexibility for day, night, and weekend work (some OT required)
- Ability to travel to customer sites up to 50% and sometimes with last minute notice
Ideal
- Dispatching experience
- Autonomous vehicle testing experience
- Previous experience as a mechanic or technician
- Skills with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite
