ROLE: ASSISTANT OPERATIONS MANAGER MEAT
DEPARTMENT: OPERATIONS
REPORTS TO: OPERATIONS MANAGER
RESPONSIBILITIES;
Assist Operations Manager with the management of daily operations including coordinating with various departments to ensure smooth operations
Assist with the implementation of new policies and procedures to improve operations Maintain records of all operations including daily production records departmental inventory and customer data
Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and productivity in animal slaughtering and processing
Collaborate with other team members to identify and resolve any issues or concerns in relation to operations
Respond to customer inquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner
Assist with the management of product dispatches including managing delivery schedules
Develop productive profitable and achievement oriented working environment for employees.
Supervise operations team to ensure operational excellence and excellent customer services
Train operations team on meat industry best practices company policies and service excellence standards
Develop and maintain operational guidelines for staff
Oversee operational costs risks and auditing activities
Assist in interviewing recruiting training performance evaluation promotion and termination activities with regards to operations department
Determine staffing requirements work assignments and schedules for new projects
Oversee routine maintenance and repair works for key equipment in operations
Supervise cleaning and sanitization of the entire facility and the equipment to the
required standards
Ensure overall maintenance of hygiene (personal equipment and work areas in the entire facility)
Evaluate inspection reports and service tickets in the operations department
Evaluate current operational strategies and recommend improvements in continuous basis
Generate operational reports for management as needed and
Any other role as assigned by Operations Manager.
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION:
A Bachelor s degree in Food Science Meat Science or other related science field.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Operations experience preferably within the meat slaughtering and processing field.
Resultsoriented selfmotivated flexible and adaptable to rapid change and has the ability to work in a fastpaced high demand environment
Understanding of Food Safety Management Systems (FSSC 22000) and/ or Quality Management Systems (QMS)
A good food and meat processing industry understanding and understanding of business and customer processes
Solid understanding of the quality control stages milestones and deliverables for meat slaughtering and meat processing
Strong consultative and influencing skills with the ability to build strong working relationships across all levels
Experience translating KPIs to teams to get buy in and results
Excellent organizational skills with emphasis on priorities and goal setting
Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills with a good focus on organization and enhanced multitasking abilities
Strong IT background with knowledge of key quality control software and applications
Strong proficiency in MS office applications Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint
Ability to communicate information whether technical or nontechnical to a varied audience in a clear and concise manner.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
At least 5 years of progressive and relevant experience in the food industry. At least 2 years
work experience in a similar position in a busy food industry.
Slaughterhouse or meat processing industry experience preferred.
