Position Description: Supervises accounting staff in the areas of accounts receivable accounts payable and banking areas. Establishes work priorities and assignments coordinates schedules coaches counsels and writes performance goals and evaluations. Reviews accounting activities transactions and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with the state federal and local regulations and with general accepted accounting principles. Assist with preparation of financial reports and associated audit.
Skills Required: Knowledge of the principles standards and practices of governmental accounting auditing budgeting and financial reporting for public sector activities. Principles and practices of municipal accounting and financial administration; pertinent Federal State and Local laws rules and regulations. Computerized financial systems and complex financial models. Listen communicate and deal effectively with management peers representatives of other government agencies and the general public and research as necessary to provide requested information. Communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization using clearly organized thoughts proper sentence construction punctuation and grammar. Provide superior customer service for both internal and external customers. Effectively communicate instructions and information both verbally and in writing to subordinates other city staff and the public. Be committed to teamwork and to quality in everyday work. Be willing to assume ownership in completion of assigned tasks. Perform complex and confidential assignments. Interpret Federal State and City ordinances rules and regulations. Make complex mathematical calculations and draw logical conclusions. Handle multiple projects simultaneously and use good judgment in prioritizing work assignments. Make presentations and facilitate meetings.
Experience Required: Four years of accounting experience and one year of supervisory experience.
Education Required: A Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or closely related field from an accredited educational institution.
