Senior Software Engineer, Billing

About the role:

At Forter Billing isnt just about invoices its the financial heartbeat of a platform protecting over $500B in annual commerce. As we scale toward our next phase of growth we are looking for a Senior Engineer to architect the mission critical systems that translate massive data streams into financial reality.

We arent looking for a maintainer. We are looking for a builder who wants to own the core engine that powers Forters diverse and expanding product lines.

What youll be doing:

• Design build and maintain scalable and resilient systems that handle high-volume data while collaborating with teammates and individual contributors at Forter
• Lead projects from concept to production ensuring the highest standards of quality and financial integrity.
• Work on data-driven initiatives that improve system performance efficiency and billing accuracy
• Partner with Product and Business stakeholders to navigate technical trade-offs that directly affect Forters bottom line.
• Use AI coding tools as a natural part of how you work reviewing guiding and improving AI-generated code is part of the day-to-day here
• Help foster best practices and maintain a high standard of engineering excellence

What youll need:

• 4 years of experience developing and maintaining production systems
• Strong backend fundamentals; Python is our primary language but we value engineering fundamentals over specific syntax
• Proven experience owning systems in production including monitoring troubleshooting performance and reliability improvements
• Familiar with DevOps tools and practices including CI/CD deployment pipelines observability and quality assurance (unit integration testing)
• Experience with AWS and storage at scale (MySQL Snowflake Redis)
• A proactive attitude and a passion for providing technical solutions that bring an immediate business impact and ensure engineering excellence

It would be cool if you have:

• Familiarity with NoSQL data stores such as Elasticsearch
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines using industry-standard frameworks like Airflow Kafka Delta Lake etc
• Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms
• Background in billing / ERP systems
