Skytree enables a transition to a world with cleaner Air for everyone. We do this by developing and deploying smart technology that captures atmospheric carbon dioxide enabling its use or storage to combat climate change and aid society and businesses around the world.
Born out of the European Space Agency (ESA) we are a global team of highly talented scientists engineers and business professionals supported by an experienced management team. Our working culture is based on a dynamic and smart approach to business with an open and understanding attitude to others and a desire to expand the boundaries of what is possible.
As we enter a new phase of growth we are looking for an entrepreneurial and solution-oriented Senior Techno-Commercial Analyst to continue this journey with us.
Your role
As Skytree continues to scale its Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology we need to bridge the gap between complex engineering realities and long-term commercial viability. We are looking for a Senior Techno-Economic Analyst to sit within our Product Management team.
In this role you will be the Architect of Value. You will build maintain and evolve the master Techno-Economic Model (TEM) that serves as the single source of truth for our product costs (CAPEX/OPEX) unit economics and market competitiveness. You wont just be crunching numbers; you will be influencing the product roadmap by identifying which technical levers (e.g. sorbent efficiency cycle times heat recovery) yield the highest commercial impact.
Youll make an impact by
Owning and scaling our Techno-Economic Model (TEM): Design develop and continuously evolve a robust modular model that captures the full lifecycle of DAC units - from manufacturing and installation through energy consumption operations and maintenance.
Leading sensitivity and scenario analyses: Lead What-if simulations to evaluate for example the impact of fluctuating energy prices supply chain shifts and technological breakthroughs on the Levelized Cost of Capture (LCOC).
Bridging Engineering Supply Chain and Finance: Lead and operate independently across the Engineering Supply Chain and Finance domains rather than merely communicating outputs. You will gather technical performance data from our Technology team and convert it into financial outlooks for the executive team ensuring deep operational comfort in all three areas.
Influencing the product roadmap through techno-economic insights: Identify cost-kill opportunities. Use your models to show Product Managers where R&D/innovation investment is most needed to achieve our /ton targets for CO2 production.
Supporting commercial and project decisions: Provide data-driven inputs for bespoke commercial bids helping the sales team understand margin profiles for different localizations and energy configurations of our DAC systems.
Interpreting simulations and challenging assumptions: Ability to interpret simulation outputs directly and identify gaps between simulations and commercial assumptions which goes beyond data collection.
What were looking for
1. Skills and Qualifications:
Quantitative Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis. You should be comfortable with tools like Python (NumPy/Pandas) MATLAB or highly advanced Excel/VBA. Experience with AI-assisted modelling and agentic workflows is essential.
Engineering Literacy: A strong grasp of process engineering chemical engineering thermodynamics and/or energy systems. You must understand how a change in pressure drop or thermal energy demand cascades through a financial model.
Strategic Mindset: Experience in strategy development or consulting specifically within the ClimateTech Hydrogen or Carbon Capture sectors is a plus.
Communication: Ability to distill complex multi-variable simulations into clear actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders. Comfortable in working with stakeholders on all levels from R&D operational level to C-level.
2. Experience Profile
5 years of experience in techno-economic assessment (TEA) life cycle assessment (LCA) or product strategy in a deep-tech environment.
Educational Background: Degree in Process Engineering Chemical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Physics or Econometry with a heavy focus on Energy Systems. A Masters or PhD is a plus.
Sector Knowledge: Familiarity with carbon markets subsidies (e.g. 45Q EU ETS) and the energy transition landscape.
Why this role is critical for Skytree
At the intersection of hardware and climate science the biggest risk is building something the world cant afford. This role ensures that our engineering brilliance is matched by commercial precision. You will be the person who answers the question: If we improve this component by 10% how much closer does it get us to our target of 100 per tonne of CO2
What you can expect
Apart from working with great colleagues and a competitive package you can also expect:
Market-competitive compensation paired with exceptional career growth potential.
A unique start-up environment offering organic professional and personal growth at one of the most innovative cleantech companies in Amsterdam!
A diverse (38 nationalities) and fun team to work with.
Travel cost reimbursement (choose from an NS business card lease bike or 23ct p/km travel allowance).
Recharge with 25 vacation days plus a little extra when life throws something special your way.
Enjoy the flexibility of hybrid work with the option to work from home once a week.
A vibrant office close to the Science Park train station (5 minute walk!) as well as close to the highway.
Access to the Science Park and Amsterdam University cafeterias (and all the great and healthy meal options).
Fun activities organised by our very own Champagne Committee (e.g. acooking class orCanal Adventures at the heart of the city centre).
Stay fueled with tasty fruits and snacks - because work should be enjoyable too!
Are you ready to build the financial engine behind the DAC revolution Apply now.
