The Regulatory and Identity Services Taituarā branch shapes systems and services that touch almost every New Zealander. Within this the Regulatory Services Group has oversight of three significant regulatory systems AntiMoney Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Gambling and Charities.

We are a responsive riskbased regulator focused on prevention and reducing harm. Our work helps ensure New Zealand businesses are not exploited by organised crime and that the integrity of the financial system is protected.

The role Te tūnga

Reporting to the Deputy Director AML/CFT - Banking this Senior Regulator will play a key role in supervising Banking entities and ensuring compliance with AML/CFT obligations.

Working as part of the AML/CFT team you will manage regulatory relationships with assigned Banks undertake inspections and assessments and provide clear evidencebased advice on compliance. You will contribute to strengthening regulatory practice supporting implementation of AML/CFT priorities and improving understanding of financial crime risks across the sector.

This is a varied and impactful role combining technical analysis stakeholder engagement and regulatory delivery.

What you bring Nōu te rourou

  • Experience in AML/CFT supervision compliance financial services or regulatory environments
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex scenarios and provide clear advice
  • Understanding of AML/CFT requirements (NZ or international) and regulatory frameworks
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgement and attention to detail
