A Brief Overview
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse performs the various duties in the surgical unit; performs non-nursing tasks in the surgical unit.

What you will do

• Assures linen is adequately stocked in warmers daily
• Maintains and records all temperature logs per department process and policy
• Prepares gurneys and beds as needed for operating rooms
• Organization of equipment room
• Delivers specimens to laboratory in a timely manner
• Assists with cleaning operating rooms at completion of each case in accordance with Infection Control guidelines
• Assists with inter-operative patient positioning
• Maintain adequate stock of all PPE at OR entrances and throughout unit
• Participates in gathering and putting away equipment and supplies as necessary
• Safely transports patients to and from the surgical suite as requested
• May assist with picking cases and assembling case carts for future cases
• Proactively assists with turnover including managing OR equipment and assisting with room turnover to ensure fluid running of department
• Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford Health Care Tri-Valleys patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions.

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Required

Experience Qualifications

• 3 years to 5 years of relevant experience Required

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Level Requirements
  Trains new staff members
  Cross trains to other services i.e. Anesthesia GI picking cases

Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read write and understand the English language
• Detail oriented
• Strong Organizational skills
• Ability to anticipate and change with the environment as needed
• Ability to maintain the physical demands of the job push/pull heavy equipment - 50lbs
• Knowledge of safety quality and joint commission standards as it relates to the department

Licenses and Certifications

• Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare
  Providers required .
• Trainer Certification for Surgical Technicians (CSCT) AHE required .
