Job Summary
We are seeking a Staff Vehicle Safety Integration Engineer to architect next-generation occupant protection systems for our electric and autonomous this high-impact role you will lead the technical strategy for global safety performance bridging the gap between high-level requirements and physical validation. You will drive the cross-functional alignment of structures and restraints ensuring our vehicles exceed the worlds most rigorous safety standards while redefining protection for the age of autonomy.

You should be an expert at bridging the gap between CAE simulation and physical testing with a sharp eye for data-driven insights and a commitment to mission-critical reliability. In this role you will:
- Lead the end-to-end architecture and development of next-generation occupant protection systems to meet global safety standards and technical targets.
- Define high-level safety requirements and decompose them into actionable engineering metrics recipes and module-level targets.
- Manage complex trade-offs between safety and other vehicle attributes while driving collaboration across structures restraints and sub-attribute teams.
- Oversee virtual and physical test programs (DVP) manage instrumentation strategies and monitor technical issue resolution via Jira throughout the vehicle lifecycle.
- Partner with CAE teams to ensure simulation-to-test correlation and provide technical direction to leadership during key project gateways based on data analysis.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
- 10 years of experience within automotive development and testing preferably safety testing
- Detailed knowledge of FMVSS ECE UN and other legal and consumer test safety protocols
- Experienced in complete vehicle safety structure and systems development and testing
- Proficiency with LS-Dyna Hyperworks Python Matlab and/or NI Diadem strongly preferred
- Experience with 3D design and PLM tools CATIA 3DX or CATIA V5 preferred
Bonus Qualifications
- DFMEA knowledge Experience with requirements management tools (Polarion or equivalent)
- Capable of building and scripting templates for first-pass data integrity checks results analysis and reporting
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling as well as positioning within a level is determined by a range of factors including but not limited to a candidates relevant years of experience domain knowledge and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
