As they continue to expand they are seeking a Senior Tax Attorney to join their robust and highly respected tax practice.
This is an opportunity to work alongside a sophisticated team of tax practitioners who collaborate across practice groups to deliver integrated strategic legal solutions.
Position Overview
The Senior Tax Attorney will provide advanced tax support for mergers acquisitions restructurings and other complex transactions. The ideal candidate brings deep experience advising on entity formation passthrough taxation and multistate tax matters and thrives in a collaborative teamoriented environment.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys complex transactional work values crossfunctional collaboration and is looking for a longterm platform to grow their practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on complex transactions including mergers acquisitions restructurings and joint ventures
- Counsel clients on entity formation passthrough taxation and multistate tax issues
- Work closely with corporate real estate estate planning and litigation attorneys to deliver integrated legal solutions
- Conduct sophisticated tax research and provide strategic guidance on federal state and local tax matters
- Draft and review tax provisions in transactional documents
- Support clients across multiple industries with proactive tax planning and risk mitigation
- Contribute to the development of junior attorneys through mentorship and knowledge sharing
Qualifications
- 5 years of tax law experience ideally closer to 15
- JD required; LL.M. in Taxation strongly preferred
- CPA designation is a plus
- Demonstrated experience supporting complex transactions
- Strong analytical abilities and excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across practice groups and manage multiple priorities

About the client: 100 year-old full-service law firm with more than 100 attorneys serving clients in West Virginia Pennsylvania Ohio Kentucky and Virginia
HQ in Charleston WV
They have other offices in Morgantown WV Canonsburg PA etc.
They practice over 40 different areas of law
Comp: This is all dependent on years of experience potential book of business LLM vs. non LLM etc - wide range. 250K-400K as a base.
Location: this can be based in Canonsburg PA (near Pittsburgh) or Charleston WV
Why we are looking: Succession planning
Notes from the client:
Book of business is preferred but not necessary
Federal tax is the most important piece.
PA and WV tax experience is preferred.
We are looking for someone that can help structure business deals buy-out etc. to avoid tax issues.
Added bonus would be to find someone who has an LLM in tax (Georgetown is the best school) and/or a CPA
Pay is dependent on experience and book of business
They prefer someone who has worked at a law firm vs. someone who has been in house counsel for a long time or at a BIG 4
