Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
- Design grid-tied hybrid and off-grid solar PV systems.
- Prepare system layouts single-line diagrams and electrical drawings.
- Conduct site assessments and energy yield calculations.
- Perform PV system sizing cable sizing and inverter selection.
- Develop bill of quantities (BOQs) technical proposals and engineering documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical standards and regulations.
- Support procurement and project execution teams during implementation.
- Assist with commissioning and troubleshooting activities where required.
- Optimize system performance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors Degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy Engineering.
- 25 years experience in solar PV design and engineering.
- Proficiency in solar design software such as:
- PVSyst
- Helioscope
- AutoCAD
- PVSol
- Strong understanding of:
- Solar PV systems
- Inverters and battery storage
- LV electrical systems
- Protection and earthing
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Good understanding of South African electrical standards and regulations.
