Job Summary:

Altus Group is looking for a Cost Consultant specializing in Electrical services to join our Development Advisory division at our Toronto office. The Consultant will assist senior staff in delivering high-quality cost consulting services ensuring accurate and timely estimates for various construction sectors as well as project management and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed electrical cost estimates for construction projects including materials labour and equipment

• Review electrical drawings and specifications to identify and quantify the scope of work

• Assist in preparing estimates for electrical systems including power lighting fire alarm and data systems

• Source and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing to support accurate project costing

• Assist with change order pricing and cost impact assessments throughout the project lifecycle

• Maintain and update cost databases benchmarks and rate libraries

• Liaise with project engineers contractors consultants and clients on cost-related matters

• Support project teams with budgeting forecasting and cost planning activities

• Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within project timelines

Key Requirements:

• 3 years of experience in electrical estimating cost consulting or construction cost management

• Understanding of electrical systems including power lighting fire alarm and data systems

• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings specifications and construction documents

• Experience preparing quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimates

• Knowledge of construction materials labour pricing and equipment costing

• Experience sourcing and comparing supplier and subcontractor pricing

• Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software/tools

• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Construction Management Quantity Surveying or a related field preferred
