Business Development Manager

About the Role:

A highly respected and dynamic law firm is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join its Marketing Department in New Jersey. This position reports directly to the Chief Marketing Officer and plays a key role in driving strategic growth initiatives across the firm.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and strategic business development professional who thrives in a fast-paced collaborative environment. The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys and leadership teams to support marketing initiatives strengthen client relationships enhance brand visibility and contribute to the continued growth and success of the firm.

The role offers a strong mix of strategic planning market analysis client development proposal management and cross-office collaboration making it ideal for someone who enjoys both high-level strategy and hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute marketing and business development strategies aligned with practice group and firm-wide goals.
  • Track analyze and report on business development initiatives market trends and competitive intelligence.
  • Prepare detailed research and reports on clients prospective targets industries and market opportunities.
  • Maintain and manage experience databases and related marketing materials.
  • Coordinate draft and manage responses to RFPs pitches proposals and client presentations.
  • Continuously improve pitch materials proposal processes and business development tools.
  • Collaborate across offices to ensure consistency efficiency and alignment of marketing initiatives.
  • Track proposal outcomes analyze trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop innovative marketing collateral and client-facing materials to support practice growth.
  • Coordinate and produce high-impact submissions for legal rankings and industry recognitions in collaboration with external PR resources.
  • Partner directly with attorneys to support client development and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Proactively recommend creative ideas and outreach strategies to engage target audiences.
  • Utilize CRM systems to manage contacts track activity and support relationship development initiatives.
  • Support cross-functional marketing and business development projects as needed.
  • Travel occasionally between offices to support firm initiatives and collaboration.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of marketing or business development experience.
  • Experience within a professional services or legal environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong professional writing proofreading and editing skills.
  • Excellent organizational administrative and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market trends and business data.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and marketing analytics tools.
  • Experience with Monitor Suite and/or Redwood Analytics is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
