Job Summary

Safety Inspector

The Safety Inspector is responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with health safety and environmental (HSE) standards at project sites and workplace facilities. The role involves conducting inspections identifying hazards supporting safety programs and ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with company policies client requirements and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Site Safety Inspection

  • Conduct regular safety inspections of work areas equipment and activities.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and unsafe acts and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor compliance with HSE procedures permit-to-work systems and company safety standards.

HSE Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Local safety regulations
    • Client HSE requirements
    • Company policies and procedures
  • Verify proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Risk Assessment & Hazard Control

  • Participate in risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend preventive measures.
  • Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Permit-to-Work Monitoring

  • Monitor work permits for:
    • Hot work
    • Confined space entry
    • Working at height
    • Electrical isolation
    • Lifting activities
  • Ensure all safety precautions are in place before work begins.

Incident Reporting & Investigation

  • Report unsafe conditions near misses incidents and accidents.
  • Assist in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain records of incidents and corrective actions.

Safety Training & Awareness

  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Promote safety awareness among employees and contractors.
  • Support safety campaigns and HSE initiatives.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Participate in emergency drills and evacuation exercises.
  • Ensure emergency equipment and firefighting systems are accessible and functional.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare daily weekly and monthly HSE reports.
  • Maintain inspection records observation reports and safety documentation.
  • Track safety statistics and compliance records.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety Engineering Environmental Science or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in construction infrastructure oil & gas manufacturing or industrial projects.
  • GCC experience preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of:
    • HSE regulations and standards
    • Risk assessments and JSA
    • Permit-to-work systems
    • Incident investigation procedures
    • Emergency response procedures
  • Familiarity with OSHA NEBOSH IOSH or equivalent standards.

Preferred Certifications

  • NEBOSH IGC
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • OSHA Certification
  • First Aid & Fire Fighting Training
  • Confined Space / Work at Height Training
