Job Summary

Carers NSW is the peak organisation for carers in NSW. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers across NSW and improving their quality of life through activities programs training and policy advice. We advocate for carers of all ages and circumstances.

The Carer Gateway Vocational Pathways Program is designed to improve opportunities for carers to enter or re-enter the workforce participate in employment or volunteering or pursue further program will provide tailored employment and vocational mentoring supporting carers through career exploration skills development and the practical steps required to secure future work engage in volunteering or transition into education or training.

The Vocational Pathways Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating the implementation delivery and continuous improvement of the Vocational Pathway Program. The role ensures carers receive tailored practical and holistic support to build confidence develop skills and progress towards meaningful vocational goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide day-to-day guidance support and coordination to the Vocational Pathways Navigators to ensure consistent high quality service delivery
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local community organisations government funded employment services local businesses and carer inclusive workplace initiatives (CIWI) and the Carer Employer accreditation program to strengthen vocational opportunities for carers
  • Conduct vocational assessments to identify carers strengths interests transferable skills and employment readiness
  • Develop individualised vocational pathways plans that outline clear achievable steps towards employment volunteering or further education in collaboration with carers
  • Ensure service delivery incorporates person-centred strengths-based and culturally responsive practice
  • Provide post-placement support to carers and where appropriate employers to support sustainable employment volunteering or study outcomes
  • Provide up to 6 one-on-one mentoring and group career sessions including career exploration goal setting and job readiness support
  • Assist carers to develop practical skills such as resume writing interview preparation job search strategies and workplace communication
  • Facilitate group workshops or information sessions on employment pathways training options and skills development
  • Support carers to navigate barriers to workforce participation including limited experience long periods out of the workplace or caring related constraints
  • Conduct Carers Star at the completion of the program


This is a full time or part time (4 days) contract position until 30 June 2027.

Our ideal candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in vocational support employment services community services or a related field
  • Proven ability to develop individualised vocational plans and deliver effective one-on-one mentoring
  • Experience providing vocational mentoring coaching or capacity building support to assist individuals in progressing toward employment education or volunteering goals
  • Demonstrated ability to develop facilitate promote and evaluate programs/projects within community employment education or social support setting
  • Experience supporting supervising or coordinating staff within a community services employment or related setting
  • Experience empowering clients to understand their goals and to make decisions and actions independently
  • Strong understanding of Mandatory Reporting risk identification privacy and confidentiality requirements
  • Experience facilitating group workshops training sessions or information sessions is desirable

Salary and Benefits
