VP of Engineering AI R&D (Business level Japanese & English)

Your Role and Responsibilities

Lead the engineering vision and long-term roadmap for the AI R&D organization
Partner closely with AI leadership to drive technical strategy and resource planning
Build and scale high-performing AI engineering teams
Improve research productivity through advanced development platforms tooling and workflows
Drive adoption of AI-assisted development processes and engineering best practices
Establish scalable systems for experimentation reproducibility and code quality management
Bridge AI research outcomes with production-ready product architectures
Collaborate cross-functionally with product and business stakeholders
Optimize large-scale distributed training and HPC infrastructure usage
Represent the company externally through conferences technical blogs and engineering leadership initiatives

Experience and Qualifications

10 years of software engineering experience in AI/ML environments

Experience managing AI research or engineering organizations
Proven experience scaling teams of 10 engineers/researchers
Strong expertise in Python PyTorch and deep learning technologies
Hands-on experience with distributed training systems and HPC infrastructure
Native level Japanese or N1 level Japanese Fluency with Business-level English communication skills required.

Preferred:
Experience developing or operating foundation models / LLMs
Experience designing MLOps or AI research infrastructure
Experience in global engineering organizations or English-based technical collaboration
Engineering leadership experience in large-scale AI research environments
Experience improving researcher workflows and AI-driven productivity initiatives
Experience with low-level optimization using C/CUDA
Masters or PhD in AI/ML-related fields
