Electrician Marine & Dockyard Environment
Permanent 18 per hour 3740 hours per week
Broadreach Recruitment is supporting a major UK ship repair and marine engineering facility based in Cornwall operating within one of the worlds largest natural deep-water harbours on a variety of projects including Defence Commercial and Energy/Wind.
We are recruiting an experienced Electrician on a permanent basis to support a wide range of marine and dockyard engineering projects. This role is ideally suited to an electrician with dockyard shipyard or heavy industrial experience who is looking for long-term stability flexibility and varied technically interesting work.
The Role
As an Electrician you will be a key part of the sites engineering and maintenance operations working on electrical systems both on board vessels and across the dockyard facility.
Key responsibilities include:
Installing maintaining and repairing electrical systems on marine vessels and within the dockyard
Carrying out inspections fault-finding and diagnostics to ensure systems are safe compliant and fully operational
Interpreting electrical drawings schematics and technical specifications
Planning and delivering electrical installations and repairs in line with project requirements
Working collaboratively with engineers project managers and other trades
Demonstrating a strong commitment to health safety and environmental standards at all times
Working Pattern & Pay
Permanent position
18 per hour
3740 hours per week
Flexible working option available hours may be completed earlier in the week allowing additional time off (subject to management approval)
Overtime available including weekends and shift work as required
About You
Were looking for an electrician who brings strong marine or industrial experience and a professional safety-focused approach.
Essential requirements:
Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship or vocational qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3) or equivalent experience
Previous experience working as an electrician in a dockyard shipyard or heavy industrial environment
Strong understanding of electrical installation maintenance and fault-finding
Desirable experience:
Knowledge of marine electrical systems including wiring lighting communications navigation equipment and power generation
Experience working on board vessels or within marine engineering facilities
You will also demonstrate:
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work in confined spaces at height and in outdoor environments
