Tasks / Deliverables
Summary of Role
The IT Network & Systems Administrator is responsible for the design administration security and operational reliability of the organizations network and infrastructure environment. This position provides advanced technical expertise leads resolution of complex technical issues and acts as a senior escalation resource within the IT function.
The role plays a key part in maintaining infrastructure stability cybersecurity posture and overall system resilience while supporting both operational requirements and long-term technology objectives. Participation in infrastructure initiatives security programs and an after-hours on-call rotation is required.
Key Responsibilities
Network & Infrastructure Administration
Administer and support enterprise network and server environments including:
Physical and virtual server platforms
Network infrastructure devices perimeter security appliances and core services
Storage platforms backup systems and recovery environments
Provide advanced technical support by:
Diagnosing and resolving complex network system and application issues
Addressing configuration and performance concerns across hardware software and network layers
Coordinating with external vendors for escalation repair and replacement activities
Supporting internal teams to optimize use of infrastructure and applications
Perform installation configuration patching and lifecycle maintenance of:
Server operating systems and infrastructure services
Network hardware unified communications/telephony platforms and related systems
Enterprise desktop and server software as required
Security & Risk Management
Implement and maintain infrastructure security controls in alignment with organizational security standards and regulatory requirements.
Monitor systems and networks for vulnerabilities threats and abnormal activity.
Support endpoint server and network security technologies and configurations.
Participate in incident response activities including investigation remediation and documentation.
Maintain appropriate authentication authorization and access control mechanisms.
Contribute to audit readiness compliance initiatives and risk mitigation strategies.
Promote awareness of security best practices across the organization.
Backup Recovery & Availability
Assist in the design implementation and ongoing testing of:
Backup and recovery solutions
Disaster recovery and business continuity plans
Ensure backup processes are operational and validated on a regular basis.
Address and remediate backup failures or system availability concerns in a timely manner.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including:
Infrastructure architecture diagrams and configuration records
Operational standards and procedures
Escalation and recovery workflows
Requirements
Language Requirements
Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required; proficiency in French is considered an asset.

Requirements
- Security Clearance: Must be eligible for Reliability Level Federal Security Clearance (generally requires a minimum of 5 years of residency in Canada)
- Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- 3 years of experience administering and deploying Microsoft 365 environments including Exchange Online and on-premises Exchange Teams OneDrive and SharePoint
- 3 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure including new deployments administration and ongoing support
- Strong experience working in enterprise IT environments supporting complex multi-site infrastructure production systems and enterprise-grade network/security operations
- 3 years of hands-on networking experience with enterprise switching infrastructure specifically HP / Aruba switches including configuration troubleshooting VLAN management and network performance optimization
- 3 years of hands-on firewall administration experience with Fortinet / FortiGate firewalls including configuration security policy management VPN setup threat monitoring and troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of remote vulnerability scanning and patch management tools (e.g. Syxsense)
- 3 years of experience with Linux administration scripting batch processing logging auditing and system monitoring
- Working knowledge of server hardening and infrastructure security best practices
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft technologies networking protocols and enterprise systems integration
- Experience with remote collaboration and communication platforms including Microsoft Teams
- Experience administering MySQL and/or PostgreSQL database servers
- Experience working within ISO 27001-compliant environments and adhering to information security best practices
