Job Description:
The Salvation Army is seeking a seasoned fundraising leader to serve as Director of Development for the Ontario Division. This is a senior relationship-driven role at the intersection of major gift fundraising and people leadership.
Reporting to the Sr. Director Leadership & Legacy Giving you will own a comprehensive fundraising program spanning major gifts legacy giving and mid-level donor cultivation while driving consistency accountability and performance across your team. You will personally steward the Divisions top donors and build long-term relationships that sustain the The Salvation Armys mission for decades.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of fundraising professionals across legacy giving mid- and major gift portfolios setting performance metrics coaching staff and driving accountability
Personally steward and solicit a portfolio of the Divisions top donors conducting face-to-face cultivation relationship management and direct gift asks
Develop and execute annual and multi-year fundraising strategies for Leadership & Legacy Giving including moves management prospect cultivation cycles and stewardship plans
Lead the mid-level fundraising program identifying and developing donor pathways from mid-level to major giving through strategic touchpoints and personalized engagement
Drive capital campaign fundraising efforts in collaboration with divisional leadership and external consultants
Establish and review KPIs fundraising targets and reporting frameworks across all donor streams ensuring goals are met and exceeded
Recruit onboard train and mentor fundraising staff; foster a high-performance team culture grounded in The Salvation Armys values
Manage the Development budget and provide input on financial policies and resource allocation
Serve as a visible collaborative leader within divisional and territorial Development teams partnering closely with Public Relations and divisional leadership
Represent The Salvation Army with professionalism and integrity at community donor and stakeholder events across Ontario
Key Skills and Experiences:
710 years of progressive fundraising experience including proven success in face-to-face major gift solicitation
Demonstrated experience managing and leading a fundraising team setting goals developing staff and building a culture of performance
Deep knowledge of relationship fundraising including major gifts legacy/planned giving and mid-level donor programs
Strong CRM proficiency ideally Raisers Edge; comfortable with donor data analysis and moves management tracking
Technical understanding of charitable tax implications planned gifts and estate administration
Experience in capital campaign fundraising strategic planning and budget management
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills you build trust with donors colleagues and volunteers alike
High adaptability and cultural flexibility you lead diverse teams with empathy and adjust your style to meet people where they are
Comfort working within a large complex organization; you are patient with process collaborative by nature and resilient under ambiguity
Post-graduate degree in fundraising nonprofit management or a related field; CFRE designation required
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $94660.80 to $118352.00 with a maximum of $142022.40.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
