About the Role

Werelooking for amid-level Software Engineer (Frontend/Backend)to support the development and scaling of ourfrontend/backend systems and services. This role is hands-on and delivery-focused working primarily withTypeScriptNodeJSReactJSGraphQL and SQL/PHP and collaborating closely with frontend and mobile engineers.

Reporting to theLead Engineeryoullcontribute tofrontend &backend development API design and DevOps workflows while growing your skills in system design performance optimisation and cloud infrastructure. This role suits an engineer who is comfortable working independently on problems and eager to deepen their technical capability.

Were open to this role being fully remote or hybrid based out of our Mornington HQ.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop andmaintainbackend services usingNodeJSGraphQL and SQL/PHP.
• Develop andmaintainfrontend apps usingReactJSand TypeScript.
• Build and extend APIs that support web and mobile applications.
• Collaborate with frontend and mobile engineers to ensure reliable and efficient data integration.
• Contribute toCI/CD pipelines build automation and deployment processes.
• Assistwith database schema design query optimisation and performance tuning.
• Write andmaintainunit integration and API-level tests.
• Support system reliability monitoring and security best practices.
• Participate in code reviewsplanningand technical discussions.
• Work with the Lead Engineer to implement architectural patterns and technical standards.
• Assistwith troubleshooting production issues and resolving bugsin a timely manner.

Skills & Experience

• 35 yearsprofessional experience in backend or full stack development.
• Strong experience withNodeJSGraphQL and SQL(MySQL).
• Working knowledge ofPHPfor integrations or legacy systems.
• Working knowledge ofReactJS(and ideallyNextJS)for frontendapps.
• Experience withCI/CD pipelines Docker and Git-based workflows (e.g. GitHub Actions).
• Exposure to cloud platforms such asAWS or GCP.
• Solid understanding of backend security testing practices and performance optimisation.
• Experience writingunit and integration tests.
• Preferred experience-DevOp

Nice to Have

• Experience mentoring graduate or junior engineers.
• Exposure tocaching (Redis).
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Datadog New Relic Prometheus).
• Exposure to serverless or container orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes)IaC.
• Mobile development usingReactNativeand native.
• Interest in learning more about system design and cloud architecture.
