General Definition of Work
The Senior Director of Alternative Learning Programs is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of alternative schools and specialized programs including Aspire High Aspire Middle T3 ASPIRE the MUSC Day Treatment Center (DTC) and the Rock Hill Virtual Academy. This position provides strategic leadership and supervision to ensure high-quality learning experiences consistent with state law board policies administrative regulations and the districts strategic plan. The Senior Director administers all phases of alternative program operations including curriculum staffing and facilities while acting as a primary liaison with building principals district directors and community agencies.

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Rock Hill Schools. Rock Hill Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
- Comprehensive Oversight: Supervises the staff of all alternative schools specialized programs (T3 and Day Treatment) and the Virtual Academy.
- K-8 Specialized Program Support: Provides direct oversight for the T3 Program (K-5) and the MUSC Day Treatment Center (K-8) ensuring academic continuity and the successful implementation of positive behavior models.
- Instructional Leadership: Leads the development implementation and evaluation of data-driven plans for increasing student achievement across all alternative settings.
- Safety & Environment: Provides for school safety and creates a culture that promotes the ongoing improvement of learning and teaching for both students and staff.
- Clinical Collaboration: Collaborates with the Director of Mental Health and external partners such as MUSC to provide therapeutic services while maintaining district ownership of the IEP and Section 504 process.
- Curriculum Alignment: Assists instructional staff with the alignment of curriculum instruction and assessment with state and local district learning goals.
- Resource Management: Manages both staff and fiscal resources including the supervision of federal and state funds to support student achievement and legal responsibilities.
- Administrative Delegation: Delegates specific administrative functions to Assistant Directors and other personnel to manage workloads efficiently.
- Facility Management: Oversees the Flexible Learning Center site and collaborates with Assistant Director housed at Belleview on the use of shared facilities to ensure appropriate supervision.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partners with the school community and community forums to promote student learning and maintain ongoing support for educational goals. (I.e. outside vendors SFE and Boys and Girls Club)
- Grant Writing: Writes and manages grants to support program expansion and enhancement.
- Policy Implementation: Implements policies procedures and processes for the purpose of providing direction and complying with mandated requirements
- Chairs meetings (e.g. curriculum safety site advisory special district committees etc.) for the purpose of coordinating activities and ensuring that outcomes achieve school district and/or state objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Responsibilities include working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; managing multiple departments; and supervising the use of funds. Utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the jobs functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the Organizations services.

- Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is limited.
- Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with frequent interruptions.
Education and Experience
- Masters degree in educational administration or related field required.
- Graduate work in administration curriculum planning and implementation teacher evaluation and supervision.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in education leadership preferred.
- Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Certification
SC Certification in secondary administration or ability to obtain SC certification.
Special Requirements
- Must have and maintain a valid Drivers License or ability to provide own transportation.
- May be required to travel to school district buildings and professional meetings.
- Prior to beginning employment negative tb test results will be required.
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions
- Work requires the occasional exertion of up to ten pounds of force.
- Work regularly requires exchange of accurate and detailed information through oral and written communication.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office business equipment.
- Ability to remain in stationary position for required meetings/work.
- Ability to move to other work locations.
- Visual acuity requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activities.
- Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications.
- Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data operating standard office equipment and the use of advanced technology.
- Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office light traffic).
- Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
- Must be adaptable to performing under mild to high levels of stress.
