The Service & Team:

The Senior Family Worker will be expected to have a knowledge of the needs of disabled children and their families; know about the difference that accessing short breaks can mean for the welfare of a disabled child and their family and be able to work alongside Family Based Short Break carers to support them in their caring role. The successful candidate will have excellent skills in communication and relationship-based practice; be able to identify risks both from carers and the environment and recognize signs of abuse and respond appropriately to any safeguarding or child protection concerns. The Senior Family Worker will undertake Family Based Short Break Carers statutory visits and carers reviews under the direction of the social work qualified Team Manager.

This role is to work predominantly in the West of the county but occasionally covering for other team members in the East.
This is a public/customer-facing role where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.


This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern:

This role is to work across the working week for 37 hours. Generally this is Monday Friday with 8.45 am 5.15 pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45 4.45 on Friday. Occasionally working outside of these hours might be needed in an emergency situation. However compressed hours will be considered.
