Assignment Length: 26 Weeks
Schedule: Mid Shift 5x8s or 2x12s 2x8s 3:00 PM 11:00 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Registered Nurse to join a psychiatric care team in Binghamton New York. The ideal candidate will have strong psychiatric nursing experience and the ability to thrive in a structured behavioral health environment focused on patient safety therapeutic engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration.
This role requires nurses who are comfortable managing medication administration patient assessments clinical documentation and therapeutic patient interaction within an inpatient psychiatric setting.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses
- Provide nursing care for behavioral health and psychiatric patients
- Conduct and document nursing assessments
- Complete shift notes and required weekly/monthly documentation
- Support therapeutic milieu activities and patient engagement
- Collaborate with Mental Health Therapy Aides and interdisciplinary teams
- Serve as Charge RN when assigned
- Maintain compliance with facility safety and documentation standards
Requirements
- Active RN license required
- Previous psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience required
- Strong assessment and documentation skills
- Ability to manage medication administration for up to 25 patients
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced behavioral health environment
