Hours
Up to 29 hours per week in accordance with the WCPS calendar until June 30 2027
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Fluency in a second language and English with ability to effectively translate and interpret
- Skilled in the associated cultural dynamics with the ability to provide cultural competence to aid in communication
- Verification of interpreter certification or successful completion of Educational Interpreter Skills Test (offered upon successful interview)
- Experience supporting multilingual and immigrant families in community or school setting
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate impartial oral interpretation between English and the target language for students parents/guardians and school staff.
- Interpret during student/family meetings including but not limited to IEP 504 disciplinary counseling registration and parentteacher conferences.
- Support interpretation for school events and communications such as orientations workshops and administrative meetings as assigned.
- Serve as a cultural and linguistic bridge to help ensure clear understanding without adding omitting or altering messages.
- Follow all district procedures safety protocols and professional standards while on school grounds or during virtual sessions.
- Demonstrate professionalism neutrality and respect when working with diverse populations.
- Accurately track and report hours worked according to district requirements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with FERPA and district policies.
