JOB SUMMARY
Meet the procurement needs of the organization by effectively handling the acquisition and management of the highest quality goods and services at the lowest overall cost in a fair and equitable manner. Supportive of the Village mission values and service/hospitality (PRIDE) expectations. Completes training as required by policy.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Orders supplies and services to meet the needs of the Village
- Developing and managing relationships with suppliers to ensure that they provide high-quality products at competitive prices
- Returns merchandise to vendors when necessary.
- Follow up on the status of orders already placed and provides up-to-date information on them by checking with vendors.
- Makes recommendations to dispose or repair equipment.
- Maintains up-to-date procurement and inventory records.
- Reconciles and approves payment of vendor invoices.
- Adheres to all safety regulations and requirements.
- Handles stress well and gets along with others within the workplace and with customers outside the department.
- Maintains acceptable standards of workplace conduct.
The responsibilities described above represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to perform all assigned responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High school education required.
Knowledge and Skills (required unless otherwise noted):
- Intermediate keyboarding skills and knowledge and skills using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook Word PowerPoint and Excel.
- Intermediate skill using typical office equipment: copier calculator printer scanner and pager.
- Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume.
- Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to effectively deal with difficult customers.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Must be able to read write and communicate proficiently to complete required reports and interact with others.
- Ability to exhibit professionalism tact and patience when communicating with others.
- Ability to interact effectively and empathetically with patients and their families.
- Advanced phone etiquette required.
Experience:
- One three years purchasing experience preferred.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
- All associates may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
