JCS Director of Maintenance 2026-2027 School Year

DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Conforms with all state and local laws and regulations regarding school maintenance and transportation.

1. Oversees the recruitment and training of maintenance and custodial personnel. Makes recommendations concerning their employment transfer promotion or release to the Assistant Superintendent for Operations.

1. Maintains safety standards in conformance with state and insurance regulations and develops a program of preventive safety.

1. Assists the Assistant Superintendent for Operations with the preparation and administering of the maintenance budget.

1. Authorizes purchases in accordance with maintenance budget limitations and school district regulations.

1. Develops recommendations for future equipment and personnel needs.

1. Oversees the preparation of the maintenance payroll.

1. Submits all reports required by state local and insurance authorities.

1. Orders receives warehouses and inventories materials and supplies for custodians and maintenance workers.

1. Coordinates warehousing and delivery of maintenance supplies and materials.

1. Prepares or secures cost estimates in time labor and materials for necessary repairs.

1. Assists the Assistant Superintendent for Operations in developing and maintaining an inventory of all school property.

1. Assists the Assistant Superintendent for Operations in developing a replacement schedule for school property.

1. Conducts with the principal annual inspections of each school building with to evaluate troublesome maintenance problems and evaluate cleaning procedures.

1. Meets with vendor representatives for product awareness and ordering of stock items.

1. Coordinates in-service training scheduling of work for maintenance and custodial personnel.

1. Attends appropriate committee and staff meetings.

1. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Operations or the Superintendent.
