A leading organisation is seeking a Senior Principal Auditor to join its Johannesburg-based audit team. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives in complex banking and financial services environments and is passionate about delivering high-impact audits across multiple business functions and regions. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading independent audit activities engaging with senior stakeholders and ensuring the effectiveness of internal controls across diverse operations.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute complex audits across various business and functional areas.
• Act as a trusted advisor and relationship manager to senior country management.
• Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and risk management processes.
• Prepare and reconcile audit findings and reports in line with audit methodology standards.
• Conduct audit fieldwork including process analysis risk identification and control testing.
• Challenge and support stakeholders in developing effective remediation plans.
• Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements relating to the Internal Audit Function.
• Collaborate with global audit teams and subject matter experts across international markets

Requirements:

• Minimum of 7 years professional audit experience within banking or financial services.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks risk management and audit methodologies.
• Experience within areas such as Investment Banking Corporate Banking Transaction Banking Risk Compliance Finance Operations or Information Technology.
• Bachelors Degree in Business Economics Science or a related field.
• Professional qualifications such as CIA CISA ACA or CPA will be advantageous.
• Excellent analytical communication stakeholder management and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively within global and matrix-driven environments.
• Willingness to travel occasionally within the Middle East and Africa region.
