A leading organisation is seeking a Senior Principal Auditor to join its Johannesburg-based audit team. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives in complex banking and financial services environments and is passionate about delivering high-impact audits across multiple business functions and regions. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading independent audit activities engaging with senior stakeholders and ensuring the effectiveness of internal controls across diverse operations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute complex audits across various business and functional areas.
- Act as a trusted advisor and relationship manager to senior country management.
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and risk management processes.
- Prepare and reconcile audit findings and reports in line with audit methodology standards.
- Conduct audit fieldwork including process analysis risk identification and control testing.
- Challenge and support stakeholders in developing effective remediation plans.
- Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements relating to the Internal Audit Function.
- Collaborate with global audit teams and subject matter experts across international markets
Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years professional audit experience within banking or financial services.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks risk management and audit methodologies.
- Experience within areas such as Investment Banking Corporate Banking Transaction Banking Risk Compliance Finance Operations or Information Technology.
- Bachelors Degree in Business Economics Science or a related field.
- Professional qualifications such as CIA CISA ACA or CPA will be advantageous.
- Excellent analytical communication stakeholder management and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively within global and matrix-driven environments.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within the Middle East and Africa region.
