What does a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) - Adult Outpatient do

As a Full-Time Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Adult Outpatient at Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board you will provide psychiatric evaluation diagnosis medication management and treatment for adults with serious mental illness in an outpatient setting. Responsibilities include conducting assessments developing treatment plans prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications under a collaborative practice agreement responding to client crises and maintaining accurate documentation. You will also provide therapeutic support and educate clients and families on treatment plans while considering individual mental health cultural and financial needs.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• Masters Degree with an Active Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license with Psychiatric Nurse/Mental Health Practitioner specialty
• One (1) year of experience working with individuals who are living with mental illness and/or substance use disorders.
• DEA registration or eligibility
