Job Summary:
Under generalsupervisionperform duties to provide cleaning and maintenance of buildingsfurnitureand fixtures. Serve asteamleader andtrain others in proper work methods and procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Perform all essential functions of a Building Services Worker. Sweep mop strip wax polish and renew floor surfaces. Clean and shampoo rugs and carpets.
- Clean dust and wax furniture and fixtures in classrooms/labsofficesand residence halls. Clean and empty trash receptacles.
- Scrubcleanand sanitize restrooms (sinks mirrors commodes urinals showers stalls etc.); stock supplies.
- Planleadand assign work for assigned staff. Inspect buildings and review quality of work performed by Assistant Building Services Workers and Building Services Workers. Train new employeesonall equipment operation and job duties. Coordinate and plan special projects. Record inventory andorderssupplies.
- Clean andmaintainentrance glass hallways lobbies stairs elevators walls doors; remove snow and ice from walkways; check supplies stockclosetsand order necessary supplies. Clean andmaintainequipment.
- Complete worktimeand material usage reports. Perform otherduties asassigned by Superintendent/Supervisor.
Additional Position Information:
Education:Requireshighschool diploma or GED. Ability to add subtract multiply and divide numbers (including fractions and decimals). Must be able to read and write using English vocabulary.
Licenses/Certifications:Valid Ohio Drivers License.
Leadership: Provide guidance to nonexempt staff including general scheduling assigningtasksandmonitoringthe work of others as assigned by the Supervisor.
Experience:Requires a minimum of 2years of experiencein running vacuum floor buffer floor burnisher automatic floor scrubbercarpetand upholstery equipment. Experiencemaintainingand cleaning buildings furniture and fixtures. Experience leading others preferred.
Physical Requirements:Must be able to lift 80 pounds without assistance and demonstratebendingcrouchingand lifting.Mustbe able to climb a ladder.
Working Conditions:Routine exposure to heat cold moisture/wetness inclement weathernoiseand air pollution. May involve exposure to chemical substanceshazardsand moving parts. Work schedule is subject to changein accordance withUniversityneeds and/or the results of the shift line-up process. Overtime/Call-ins may be mandatory based onUniversityneeds.
Shift: Sunday - Thursday 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

This is a Union position with a salary grade of 04. The salary determination is subject to the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Starting rate for external candidates - $16.48 hourly.
