OVERVIEW:
The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN)is responsible forpromoting andmaintainingthe physical mental and social well-being of manufacturing and administrative employees across multiple company locations. This role focuses on preventing and treating work-related injuries and illnesses supporting employee wellness initiativesand programs managing occupational and personal medical leave programs ensuring regulatory compliance and promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
The OHN partners closely with Human Resources Safety operational leadership and external medical providers to support employee health initiatives reduce workplace risk and ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety regulations. This position supports facilitieslocatedin Georgia Florida and Canada.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Injury & Illness Management
Providesfirst aid and emergency care to employees injured or ill at work
Managesall aspects ofworkers compensation casesfor all worksitesand coordinateswith insurance providers asnecessary
Assistswith the return-to-work process including assessing fitness for duty and collaborating with management to ensure accommodations for injured workers
Manages personal medical illnesses/injuries and coordinates all aspects of FMLA short term disability long term disability and ADA cases
Analyzes occupational injury and illness trends and partners with leadership to support proactive risk reduction initiatives
Health Surveillance & Monitoring
Coordinates OSHA-required medical surveillance programs including audiometric testing respiratory fit testing pulmonary function testing vision screening and immunization programs
Maintainsaccurateand confidential employee medical recordsin accordance withHIPAA and applicable privacy regulations
Maintains medical clinic supply inventory replenishes when necessary
Performs monthly AED inspections
Maintains OSHA 300 and 300A logs in conjunction with the Safety team
Enforces GIWs Drug & Alcohol Policy and administers drug screens makes referrals to EAP and ensures employees are working safely according to the policies and procedures
Employee Health Education & Counseling
Provides individualized employee health education coaching and support
Delivers company-wide occupational health and wellness training programs
Coordinates and manages CPR Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) and First Aid certification programs
Develops and supports employee wellness engagement initiatives focused on overall well-being
Coordinates wellness-related events including health fairs blood drives flu vaccine clinics and preventive health screenings
Serves as a resourceregardingcompany health benefits and wellness resources
Collaboration & Advisory
Partners closely with HR Safety and operational leadership to support a safe and healthy workplace culture
Serves as a health resource and advisor to employees and leadership provides support and referrals when necessary
Participates in safety committee meetings and supports continuous improvement initiatives related to employee health and safety
Ensurescompliance withGIWs company policies andlocal state and federal occupational health and safety laws and regulations
Risk Management & Emergency Preparedness
Assistsin the development of emergency response plans including handling workplace accidents natural disasters and public health emergencies
Participatesin drills and training programs for emergency response
Supports workplace incident investigations involving employee injuries or medical events
Workplace Health Initiatives
Develops implements and evaluateshealth promotion programs designed to enhance employee well-being and productivity
Manages GIWs wellness program and coordinates annual health screenings communicates deadlines and tracks employee engagement
Coordinates periodic events such as blood drives health fairs on-site mammogram busflu vaccine clinicsetc.
Supportsmental health initiatives by providingEmployee Assistance Programresources counseling and referrals when necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree inNursing(BSN) or related field preferred
Active Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
Minimum of 35 years of nursing experience preferably in occupational health manufacturing industrial or emergency care settings
CPR certification
Strong knowledge of OSHA FMLA ADA and other occupational health regulations
Experience in case management and workers compensation claims management
Excellent clinical emergency and assessment skills
Strong communicationand collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and make decisions in high-pressure situations
WORK ENVIRONMENT SCHEDULE & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This positionoperateswithin both manufacturing and office environments and may require periodic exposure to moving mechanical parts loud noise levels temperature fluctuations and other manufacturing related conditions.
This position is primarily present during first shift operations but does support 24-7operationsand some flexibility outside of normal business hours may occasionally beto support emergency response situations or training initiatives.
Physical requirements may include:
Standing and walking for extended periods
Occasionallifting upto 25 pounds
Responding quickly to workplace emergencies
Use of standard office and medical equipment
Wearing required personal protective equipment
