Safety Monitoring Application Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Safety Monitoring Application Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of powertrain development supporting a wide range of vehicle programmes across conventional and electrified platforms.
In this role your responsibilities will include:
- Testing calibration and validation of safety monitoring functions in powertrain control units sensors and actuators across a range of vehicle types (ICE HEV and BEV)
- Supporting cross-functional teams to define safety requirements at functional subsystem and vehicle levels
- Working with vehicles HiL and SiL environments to validate system performance against internal safety targets and customer requirements
- Analysing test data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for optimisation and continuous improvement
- Supporting the development and implementation of new safety monitoring concepts and strategies
- Providing technical problem-solving support including root cause analysis within project teams
- Collaborating with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure robust and effective delivery of safety-critical features
- Working in a mixed environment including desk-based analysis hands-on in-vehicle testing and occasional travel within the UK and internationally
Qualifications :
Essential:
- Degree in Automotive Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) from an accredited university
- Full UK driving licence (Category B)
- Strong system-level problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with customers and cross-functional teams
- Proactive and self-motivated able to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision
- Willingness to support occasional travel within the UK and internationally
Desirable:
- Experience of safety monitoring calibration for automotive applications
- Good knowledge of automotive electrical hardware and software systems
- Hands-on experience working with complex control functions
- Calibration experience across ICE hybrid and BEV powertrains
- Knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g. ISO 26262)
- Understanding of different powertrain topologies and architectures
- Experience with calibration and measurement tools (e.g. ETAS INCA Vector CAN tools)
- Experience using MATLAB and Simulink
