Job Summary
About the Position: The Home Visitor is responsible for providing long term emotional practical and cultural support for Indigenous families with children aged 0-6 who self-refer to the home visitation program. This program works with families who seek resources information and services through the Family Resource Network (FRN) and its many programs.

- First Aid Certificate Level C from an Alberta OHS Approved Agency
- A reliable personal vehicle

Responsibilities:
- To assess and support the emotional needs of families.
- Provide support to the families in their homes and a variety of other settings with the goal of helping them to learn necessary skills such as problem solving child development parenting skills budgeting conflict management and connecting to their culture.
- Assist families in engaging with learning traditional knowledge practices and ceremonies
- Connecting families to Elders and Knowledge keepers
- Participate in developing relevant family goals and implementing evaluating and re-designing goal plans in cooperation with the family.
- Promote self-esteem and self-reliance within family members.
- Provide information articles books and other culturally sensitive materials needed to assist families in learning more about parenting child development and other applicable skills or areas of information.
- Assist families in successfully meeting their goals.
- Complete appropriate paperwork/tools/goal plans in an efficient and timely manner.
- Maintain and adhere to all health and safety requirements and report all hazards and injuries to the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications:
- A Diploma or Degree in a related field and/or previous experience working with vulnerable children and families is required.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture histories and contemporary issues affecting Indigenous people.
- Willing to work in a flexible work week including evenings and weekends when needed.
- First Aid/CPR Level C or higher
- A clean Intervention Record Check (IRC) from Children and Family Services and Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (PIC) are one of the non-negotiable compliance requirements for all Closer to Home employees before an offer letter can be issued. - This position requires the use of a personal vehicle for work-related purposes. Candidates must show proof of a class 5 Alberta drivers license a personal vehicle and a clean 3-year drivers abstract. Candidates must also agree to maintain a 2 million liability insurance on their personal vehicle and consent to the possibility of an annual drivers abstract review to meet our insurance providers requirements. Mileage will be reimbursed in alignment with the CRA guideline and CTH policy.
- Can work full-time in Canada without sponsorship.

The pay range for this role is:
51300.00-51300.00CAD per year (Calgary & Area)
