Job Summary
Join us for the school year!
Overdale Elementary is looking for dynamic caring indiviudal to work in one of our kindergarten classrooms.
The primary role of this position is to assist acertified teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups and monitoring and reporting student progress.
We are seeking applicants with the following qualifications:
- Strong communication skills and the ability to relate to students
- The belief that all kids can learn at high levels
- A positive attitude and a tremendous work ethic
- Dedicated to the profession
Position Details
Hours:6.25 hours per day(plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
Contract Length:183 days per year
- 170 student instructional days
- 4 holidays
- 7 planning days
- 2 extended days
Contract Adjustments:Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date
Employment Status: Full-time with benefits
Employment Type:10-month employee on the classified pay schedule
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education:Must meetoneof the following:
- 48 college semester hours
- An Associates Degree OR
- High school diplomaplusa passing score on the Paraeducator Assessment Exam.
- Documentation:Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire.
Compensation & Experience Credit
Salary for the 2026-2027 school year will be based on Board approved salary schedule.
2025-2026 Pay Scale
- Starting Pay (Step 0):$15.98/hour
- Experienced Pay (Step 10):$19.67/hour
We value experience!Previous experience working with students intervention systems and small-group instruction is strongly desired.
New hires may bring up to 10 years of comparable full-time verified experience.
- The hired applicant is responsible for submitting the BCPS Verification of Experience Form to prior employers for completion and return to HR.
Payroll Note:While this is an hourly position the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.
