Job Summary

  • Decontaminate clean and sterilize surgical instruments and medical devices using approved procedures and equipment.

  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality; report any damage or missing items.

  • Assemble instrument trays and surgical sets according to established protocols.

  • Operate sterilization equipment (e.g. autoclaves gas sterilizers) and monitor cycle parameters.

  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization loads and inventory.

  • Store and distribute sterile supplies and equipment to the appropriate departments.

  • Adhere to infection control and safety procedures at all times.

  • Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure timely delivery and availability of instruments.

  • Stay current with best practices and regulatory requirements (e.g. AAMI AORN OSHA).
